2 minutes can seem like a lifetime. Heck, 60 seconds can seem like a lifetime. When your customers are waiting for you, time is of the essence. At the 2006 FileMaker convention I had quite a dilemma. I needed the ability to quickly process credit cards at our booth. Last year I attempted to log on an Internet credit card gateway and process credit cards. This process was painfully slow, sometimes taking as long as 2-3 minutes per transaction. I could have run a mile in the time it took to help 3 customers. I actually saw some men grow beards as they patiently waited…women too. I finally wound up using the good old card slider and typing their orders in later.

I began working on a solution I called IPOST CC (or as is it is know in Spain, IPOST Yes, Yes) and put it through its paces at the 2007 FileMaker Convention. I was able to cut actual transaction time down to…5 seconds with minimal data entry. Customers were amazed by the speed, especially when they realized it was a FileMaker driven solution. Lines began to form behind our booth instead of in front of the booth, as customer’s wanted to see that we were actually “processing” the cards and not just entering the data.
